The qualities of awareness, self-reflection and openness to learn are essential for the energy, drive and adaptability you will need to operate as a leader; they will help you to motivate teams, work collaboratively, make decisions in risky environments, commit to engaging and promoting diversity in hiring and strategizing, and prepare you to keep pushing the boundaries in this ever-changing environment.   
Self-reflective learning techniques will be used in the module to enable you to learn from your own experiences to improve the way you work.  These techniques are underpinned by the tenants of emotional intelligence; understanding yourself, managing yourself, understanding others, and managing your relationships. The module will introduce you to coaching concepts and you will be put into Action Learning Groups that run throughout the two-years.    
In the second part of the module, we will examine why bosses matter. You will learn why ‘expert leaders’  (those who are core business experts) are so important in the creative industries; why and how leaders and line managers affect the way organisations perform; why giving feedback is necessary and how to deliver it; the benefits and necessities of diversity and inclusion at all levels; balancing the dual hybrid track of expert creative and manager; the relationship between leadership, job satisfaction and organisational performance; and how to attract (and retain) top diverse talent into management and leadership.

Feedback is provided in a number of ways throughout your module. This includes feedback you receive during teaching from both peers and lecturers and that provided for formative assessment. Following an assessment, you will be given your marks and feedback in line with the assessment regulations and policy. Whilst contact time is framed within the context of lectures these sessions will contain a variety of activities, the module will be run through team-teaching and is very interactive. Self-study periods will involve reading to prepare for each session, and individual project work, such as completing your personal development plan and starting to record your reflective journal, which will run throughout the Masters period. You will also start the process of meeting within action learning groups which will run throughout the programme.
