Following an assessment, you will be given your marks and feedback in line with the assessment regulations and policy. Following the supportive and coherent blended learning design of this module, teaching will facilitate your learning and will help you develop a proper understanding of relevant legal knowledge of Technological Innovation and IP Rights. It will ensure that you are able to develop and demonstrate skills, as listed in the module learning outcomes.  
The module is taught through a series of lectures and seminars. In the lectures you will engage in depth with the core concepts and current issues relevant to your module. In seminars you will be expected to engage in discussions of topics, present legal arguments by yourself or as part of a group, and sometimes, to undertake skills-based work. Seminars have a maximum of 40 students and a minimum of 10. You will normally have a 1-hour lecture and 1-hour seminar per week for this module.  
Both lectures and seminars take place in a flexible environment where you will be supported with a clear week on week framework to guide you incrementally through the learning elements for this module. Your online material will include video, audio, graphical and text-based resources, links to relevant further resources which are designed to help you prepare effectively for the relevant lecture and seminar. You will also have pre-reading and self-study tasks that will need to be completed each week, and you will be guided through those tasks by written or recorded instructions. All sessions are designed to be interactive and underpinned by realistic or real-life scenarios. These support your development of knowledge of substantive law, transferable skills, your practical understanding of the subject matter, and where relevant, aspects of the topic relevant to current legal practice.  
It is very important that you develop self-directed learning skills as these are an essential part of being able to study at master’s level.  
You will already have been asked to choose one of the three modes of learning available for this programme:
In-person means your class will normally be timetabled on campus face to face. 
Hybrid (synchronous): means you will join your classes at scheduled times via Microsoft Teams alongside students who will be on campus.
Online (asynchronous): means you will not attend or participate in live classes, instead you will watch recordings of all lectures and seminars, which will be uploaded to the virtual learning environment after the relevant class. 
Each mode of learning is fully supported by online blended learning materials.  You will find further information about the different modes of Learning in the Programme Specification. 
If you are an international student with a Student Visa to study in the UK, you will be required to attend classes in person on campus for the duration of the course.
Please also note that staff support will only be available between 9am – 7pm UK time.

In person: If you choose to study in person, your teaching pattern will be as set out below.
Hybrid (synchronous): If you choose to study hybrid, your 10 hours of lecture study and 10 hours of seminar study will not be held in person, it will be held synchronously online. Your self-directed study hours will remain the same.
Online (asynchronous): If you choose to study online, your 10 hours of lecture study and 10 hours of seminar study will not be held in person, it will be held asynchronously online. Your self-directed study hours will remain the same.
