Sessions are organized both chronologically and thematically, analysing significant events, political ideologies, and social transformations. The module examines pivotal moments such as the Industrial Revolution, the processes of state-making, the two World Wars, the Cold War, the rise of the European Union, the reunification of Europe in the 1990s and the political crises of the 2010s. The module will also address contemporary challenges, including neoliberalism, migration, populism, and economic crises, drawing connections between historical contexts and current issues.

Feedback is provided in a number of ways throughout your module. This includes feedback you receive during teaching from both peers and lecturers and that provided for formative assessment. Following an assessment, you will be given your marks and feedback in line with the assessment regulations and policy. Acquisition of knowledge and understanding is promoted through a combination of lectures and interactive sessions seminars with a strong emphasis on your personal contribution, including if appropriate in the form of student presentations and class exercises. This learning process is supported by the use of a wide range of information sources, from books and journal articles to online sources, official documents and audio-visual sources of information.
