This module explores American domestic politics and foreign relations from the Spanish-American war to the War on Terror. We will consider how economic booms and busts, imperialism, and multilateralism have influenced the United States and its relationship with the world. We will assess the domestic political struggles, and explore their relationship with international developments, such as the Cold War rivalry with the USSR. As we explore major developments in twentieth century U.S. history we will pay special attention the role of culture, ideology, and ideas in the formation of foreign policy, and in shaping the attitudes of Americans towards themselves and foreign others.

Following an assessment, you will be given your marks and feedback in line with the assessment regulations and policy.
